Makeup Artist
My colleagues call me a career changer. However, I beg to differ. I've merely expanded my content area to include skin care and makeup. As an Educator, my first passion is and has always been teaching and learning. Additionally, I've always been equally as intrigued by the magic of makeup-that is...how a little bit of makeup can transform someone and/or enhance his or her natural beauty. Thus, I endeavored not only to learn all that I could about skin care and makeup, but also to teach or to share said knowledge with others.
I have extensive product knowledge. This knowledge was gained not only from my being an avid beauty product consumer, but also from my experience as a beauty advisor at a makeup counter. My product knowledge includes, but is not limited to:
Estee Lauder, Clarins, Origins, Clinque, MAC, Lancome, Fashion Fair, Elizabeth Arden, Dermablend, Benefit, Shiseido, Smashbox, Urban Decay, Kiehls, Shu Uemura, Bobbi Brown, NARS, Laura Mercier, and Dior.
I continue to hone my craft by participating in a myriad of workshops symposiums, and forums conducted by leaders within the industry.
I've been fortunate to have trained with several renowned celebrity makeup artists including:
Candace Corey, Denessa Myricks, Valente Frazier, and DeShawn Hatcher.
Moreover, as a freelance makeup artist, I've participated in numerous trade, health, beauty, and fashion events, throughout the Metropolitan Area including: Sensationnel's Hair Idol, Glynn Jackson's LaPink Fashion Show, For Sisters Only, Divabetic, and D.C. Fashion Week, just to name a few.
